Nathan the Wonder Pup!

As you can see, Nathan is really bad at playing, napping, loving kids, being outside, liking other dogs and being cute. Or is it the other way around? I will be honest, we were very nervous with Nathan being our Ground Zero in fostering. I wanted to badly to help, but I wanted things to go smoothly too...and face it, I have 10 kids in this house. Four under two years old...NOTHING goes smoothly! Nathan however is a lovely change in that generalization. he LOVES everyone - could care less we have babies around (unless he wants someone to lay next to on the floor), gets along AMAZINGLY with our rescue dog Phoenix, loves to play with everyone and is 100% housetrained. Two bones of contention that are 100% fixable:
He and Phoenix can't have their bowls near eachother - they get growly. And I literally am not sure which of them has the problem. Both of them are absolutely fine with their bowls and snacks near the kids - just not each other. The other issue is Nathan is a puppy...an untrained puppy. So he doesn't listen when you call him if he is interested in something else - such as the neighbors dogs that we share a fence with. He barks his head off at them and wont come in when called. They bark their heads off at him and dont go in when they are called - so it all works out.  Nathan attending puppy school will fix this issue, I am sure of it.
Our daily routine is we get up, let the dogsout, feed and water the little buggers and the back door off our deck pretty much stays open all day- so they are in and out at will. They drink up the babies pool water, lay on the deck, do laps in the yard, wrestle under the grapevines and just be dogs. When my older kids get home the teens take them both for walks ( he is a leash puller - again, puppy school would fix the issue ) and sometimes my 17 year old comes home to grab him and take him for a ride. I have NO idea how he is with cats. I suspect we will test that out and report on it soon.He has chewed ONE Barbie doll. And I have to tell you, my floor is constantly littered with books, clothes and toys, so he's had plenty of opportunity. oh yes, he also popped a playground ball...but that's sorta expected.
My official opinion? Nathan would be amazing in a FAMILY. He loves kids of all ages ( mine are 5 mos to 20 years ), he LOVES having a dog sibling and would make anyone with a similar situation to ours. I am a stay at home mom, he's never alone and he is given plenty of attention. I would hate to see him in an apt, crated for hours and with no one to play with. He's very laid back and wouldn't know how to create a problem in our family if he tried. He's a GREAT dog.
